The cheetah ran away without putting up any resistance. Thirty-eight seconds after the last picture, the hyenas were tearing the carcass apart.

Eventually eight hyenas, all from the same pack, showed up. We heard them crunching the bones. The carcass was gone in about fifteen minutes.



A few vultures (I think they're African White-backed Vultures) got scraps. When a hyena would tear off a piece of the carcass and move it away from the others, the vultures would flop into the place where the torn piece had been.
